Job summary

Arcadis seeks a Principal Water Engineer to lead water and wastewater projects in Philadelphia, PA or East Windsor, NJ. You will manage multiple projects, mentor junior staff, and guide client development strategies in the NJ/DE/Eastern PA region.

You will direct design teams, deliver construction documents, and oversee project delivery while expanding client relationships and budgets. Travel to client sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10 years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field.
• PE License in New Jersey and/or nearby states (or ability to obtain NJ PE within 6 months).
• Master’s Degree in Engineering (preferred)
• 15 years of industry-related experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the development of water and wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager.
• Utilize knowledge of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump/lift stations, and treatment facilities to deliver projects.
• Create construction documents, project specifications, and oversee construction administration.
• Provide technical expertise as design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.
• Engage with clients to determine needs and expand client relationships.
• Manage budgets and delivery schedules; lead project teams to meet deliverables.
• Support and mentor junior engineers and design staff.
• Contribute to marketing and proposal phases, including scopes of work and budgets for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Support growth strategies across NJ and Eastern PA; travel for meetings/site visits.

Role description

We are seeking a Principal Water Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water team in Philadelphia, PA or East Windsor, NJ.

In this role you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge for design and construction to execute a variety of water and wastewater projects. Experience in managing multiple projects and interdisciplinary design teams along with mentoring junior engineers are desired attributes. You will also have opportunities for Client Management and the ability to refine client development strategy in the NJ/DE/Eastern Pennsylvania region.

Role accountabilities

As a Principal Water Engineer, you will lead and direct the development of water and wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager. You will utilize your knowledge of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump/lift stations, and water/wastewater treatment facility engineering to successfully deliver projects and meet client expectations.

You will lead projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, project specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration.

Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.

Engage directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions to expand client relationships and increase service offerings with target clients.

Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities may include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project teams to meet the project deliverables.

Support the work of others and mentoring junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff.

Lead/support teams in the marketing and proposal phases of projects including preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations, as well as developing scopes of work and budgets for various water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.

Support and continue to develop strategy and growth initiatives across the NJ and Eastern PA regions.

Travel, as needed, for client meetings, project site visits, etc.
