Job summary

Motional is seeking a Principal Technical Lead Manager for its Web Visualization Tooling team. You will lead visualization experiences, tooling, and end-user applications to improve ML feedback loops and AV performance.

The role involves guiding frontend architecture, collaborating with ML, UX, data teams, and customers, and delivering scalable UI systems. Hybrid work is encouraged with in-office locations in Boston, Pittsburgh, or Las Vegas, or fully remote options.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of engineers in office and remote environments.
• Proven ability to scope, breakdown, and track software projects.
• Desire to design and build user-facing visual applications with a user-centric focus.
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript; modern frontend architecture.
• Proficiency in Vue.
• Strong product sense with emphasis on UX and usability.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives with minimal oversight.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to mentor and delegate.
• Established habits of technical design and documentation.
• Ability to engage with customers to identify needs and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the visualization engineering team.
• Ensure Data Products roadmap investments occur at appropriate times.
• Drive cross-team standards and best practices for web development.
• Own cross-team collaboration to ensure timely and effective deliveries.
• Architect and scale a modern frontend ecosystem using React, TypeScript, and Vue.
• Collaborate with ML, frontend, UX, data services, data mining, and data annotation teams.
• Build mission-critical UI systems used by internal customers.
• Design complex, data-heavy workflows to drive initiatives.
• Drive performance, scale, and maintainability across systems.
• Ship quickly and iterate in a product-driven environment.
