Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Software Engineer (Virtualization) to design, develop, and enhance advanced software solutions for lab test bench virtualization. The role is onsite in Melbourne, FL, with potential at Principal or Senior Principal level based on qualifications.

The candidate will build virtual lab topologies, automate provisioning, and create CI/CD for lab images.

Qualifications

• BS in STEM with 5+ years related experience OR MS with 3+ years OR PhD with 1 year
• Active Secret clearance or higher with background investigation in past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation
• Ability to obtain SAP clearance within business needs
• Willingness to obtain RHCSA certification
• Experience using Git or similar version control systems
• Experience across Windows and/or Linux environments

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing virtual lab topology (compute, storage, networking) using hypervisors and container orchestration
• Develop IaC scripts for provisioning and lifecycle management of lab resources
• Create virtual instrument interfaces exposed to end users via standard protocols
• Implement audit logging to meet security/compliance
• Create CI/CD pipelines for lab images, updates, patches
• Produce design diagrams, SOPs, user guides and train lab admins
• Collaborate with domain experts to translate procedures into reproducible workflows
