Caltrans in Sacramento County seeks a Deputy Division Chief, Research and Innovation to lead interdisciplinary teams across DRISI offices for strategic planning, program management, and policy delivery. Under the general direction of the Chief, Division of Research, Innovation & System Information (DRISI), the incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the management of interdisciplinary teams under the offices of: Planning, Policy & Program Development, Transportation Technology Research , Safety Innovation & Cooperative Research and Materials & Infrastructure, The incumbent is responsible for strategic planning, program management, policy development, program implementation efforts and IIJA program development/delivery efforts. The incumbent has management‑level skills in leadership, communication, partnership, team building, and strategic thinking, as well as a deep commitment to Caltrans' strategic goals and vision, providing excellent customer service, and advancing equity through all efforts. The incumbent must also work with the other DRISI offices and PMP divisions to ensure effective integration, collaboration, and synergy across all DRISI programs. This is a Caltrans Open examination.
All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date to participate in the examination.
This examination will utilize an evaluation of each candidate’s experience and education (E&E) compared to a standard developed from the Class Specification. For this reason, it is especially important that each candidate take special care in accurately and completely filling out his or her State application (STD. 678). List all experience relevant to the “Minimum Qualifications”.
This examination will not establish a civil service list; therefore, candidates will not have the ability to transfer their eligibility to other departments. Candidates will be notified of their examination results.
