Job summary

Lumicity is seeking a Lead/Senior Thermofluids Engineer in El Segundo, CA to own the thermal-fluid design of critical heat-exchange hardware. You will drive performance, efficiency, and test success through thermal-hydraulic design, 1D/CFD modeling, and end-to-end execution from concept to fabrication and test. This is a fast-moving role for someone eager to shape a next-generation power conversion system.

Qualifications

• Experience with compact heat exchangers (plate-fin or similar).
• Experience with high-pressure/high-temperature thermal-fluid systems.
• Exposure to combustion-side heat transfer or pressure-containing hardware.
• Understanding thermal stress and pressure-boundary considerations in ASME contexts.

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal-hydraulic design and sizing of heat exchangers.
• Perform pressure drop, heat transfer, and flow distribution analyses.
• Develop 1D models alongside 3D CFD to guide design.
• Take designs from early architecture through fabrication, build, and test.
• Collaborate closely with founders, cross-functional leads, and external vendors.

I’m supporting an early-stage startup in El Segundo, CA area that is building a next-generation industrial power conversion system, and I’m looking for a Lead/Senior Thermofluids Engineer who wants true ownership of core hardware.

This person will own the thermal-fluid design of critical heat-exchange hardware and architecture that directly drives system performance, efficiency, and test success.

The work will involve:

• Thermal-hydraulic design and sizing of compact, high-performance heat exchangers
• Pressure drop, heat transfer, and flow distribution analysis
• 1D modeling alongside 3D CFD
• Taking designs from early architecture through fabrication, inspection, build, and test
• Working directly with founders and cross-functional leads
• Coordinating closely with external vendors / fabricators on advanced heat-exchange hardware

Ideal background would include experience with some combination of:

• Compact heat exchangers, plate-fin, or similar architectures
• High-pressure / high-temperature thermal-fluid systems
• Combustion-side heat transfer or pressure-containing thermal hardware
• Thermal stress, pressure-boundary considerations, ASME-related design practices
