Job summary

Amazon is seeking a leader for its Special Projects team in Boston to own end-to-end roadmaps and define ambitious objectives that positively impact customers at scale.

You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business partners to prioritize, forecast, and deliver milestones while communicating risks and outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product.

Responsibilities

  • Owns reporting mechanisms and ensures data integrity for multiple projects at VP/SVP level.
  • Works cross-functionally with technical teams on product definition and end-to-end roadmaps.
  • Articulates how product results impact downstream technical adoption and defines overall product strategy.
  • Influences stakeholders to drive decision making and project progression.
  • Leads multi-functional teams through tactical and strategic decision points, managing dependencies, risks and mitigations.
  • Provides strategic insights on project performance to ensure portfolio alignment and priority setting.
  • Drives execution of program plans and ensures on-time, on-budget delivery of goals and milestones.
  • Provides guidance on budget planning, forecasting, and cost-to-goal analysis.
  • Supports cross-functional meetings and drives action item completion.

Key job responsibilities
  • Owns reporting mechanisms and ensures data integrity at the VP/SVP level for multiple projects, Communicating portfolio risks, updates and forward-looking plans
  • Works cross-functionally with technical teams on product definition, end-to-end roadmaps (e.g. defining objectives, milestones, and deliverables)
  • Clearly and briefly articulates how product results impact downstream technical adoption and helps define our overall product strategy
  • Influences key stakeholders through effective communication and strategic engagement to drive decision making and project progression.
  • Leads multi-functional teams through both tactical and strategic decision points, understanding dependencies, risks and mitigations
  • Provides strategic insights on overall project and operational performance to ensure portfolio alignment, program prioritization, and issue escalation are addressed efficiently.
  • Drives execution of program plans and critical decision making, while taking accountability for ‘on time, on budget’ delivery of program goals & milestones
  • Provides expert guidance on budget planning, forecasting, and leverages quantitative analytics to forecast time and cost to goals & milestones.
  • Supports/manages cross-functional meetings, including scheduling logistics, the creation and distribution of meeting agendas and minutes, and drive completion of action items.
A day in the life

You check in with teams developing products, talking to technical leads and engineers. Unexpected results in a recent test lead you to dig in to understand the issue better, huddle with relevant engineers and partner teams to formulate hypotheses for the issue, and test to validate them. Working with technical leads, you add roadmap items to validate hypotheses in the next development sprint, informing downstream customers of potential impact. You then write a document for senior leadership, focusing on recent progress and major decisions made, defining measures of success, elevating risks and how you plan to mitigate them.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
