Role:

The Principal Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) brings technical expertise and hands-on product knowledge to the Marketing team. You will collaborate with fellow TMEs, Product Management, Product Marketing and Sales Engineering to ensure that the content is technically accurate and delivers contextually relevant messaging that resonates with targeted technical audiences. This unique TME position will be responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and presentation of top tier demos to Splunk’s most important customers in the Customer eXperience Center located in Splunk’s Santana Row office.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate the product capabilities in line with the associated GTM motion, use case and product line.
  2. Create compelling demos, videos, Sales Engineer (SE) sales decks, technical FAQs and related content in support of product launches, campaigns, announcements, live events, etc.
  3. Understand the problems and challenges faced by our customers and create content to address real world business problems and persona-based customer use cases.
  4. Deliver targeted enablement sessions for Splunk’s top customers with original assets that drive home the value of Splunk products and resonate with our target personas.
  5. Address high-level questions about products (implementation, use, scalability, integration) in support of Marketing efforts and Sales opportunities.
  6. Directly and frequently support Sales/SE teams with 1:1 deal support, including opportunity progression, overcoming technical objections and bid/proposal support.
  7. Translate Splunk capabilities into customer value by addressing use cases and customer pain points.
  8. Identify gaps and opportunities in our current offerings to better serve customer needs.
  9. Partner with Product Management to understand and articulate mapping of features to use cases.

Essential Requirements:

  1. 7+ years of proven experience with security, threat prevention, and analytics software.
  2. 5-7 years experience in tech marketing or sales engineering.
  3. Experience with Splunk products, or comparable solutions.
  4. Polished public speaking and presentation skills.
  5. Proven track record of marketing to a highly technical security audience within large organizations. You must be comfortable working with and marketing to technical buyers and stakeholders within enterprises.
  6. Demonstrated experience in developing technical marketing content, sales enablement training, and tools, and presenting live and recorded enablement sessions to technical audiences.
  7. Excellent written and presentation skills. This role demands someone who is gifted in their ability to communicate effectively through a variety of media.
  8. Strong domain knowledge demonstrated through hands-on experience within Security (SIEM, SOAR, Threat Detection and Response), AIOps, Incident Management or other security tooling.
  9. Industry security certification: CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc.
  10. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $181,200.00 - 249,150.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $163,080.00 - 224,235.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $144,960.00 - 199,320.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
