Job description

About Ping Identity:

At Ping Identity, we believe in making digital experiences both secure and seamless for all users, without compromise. We call this digital freedom. And it's not just something we provide our customers. It's something that inspires our company. People don't come here to join a culture that's built on digital freedom. They come to cultivate it.

Our intelligent, cloud identity platform lets people shop, work, bank, and interact wherever and however they want. Without friction. Without fear.

While protecting digital identities is at the core of our technology, protecting individual identities is at the core of our culture. We champion every identity. One of our core values, Respect Individuality, reminds us to celebrate differences so you are empowered to bring your authentic self to work.

We're headquartered in Denver, Colorado and we have offices and employees around the globe. We serve the largest, most demanding enterprises worldwide, including more than half of the Fortune 100. At Ping Identity, we're changing the way people and businesses think about cybersecurity, digital experiences, and identity and access management.

As a Professional Services Technical Consultant, you will play a technical role in the architecture and successful installation, integration, and deployment of Identity and Access solutions in our clients' environments. You will also assist our implementation partners in that process. You will report to the Director of Professional Services.

You will:

  • Deliver technical consulting to our customers and partners from various industries including financial services, manufacturing, government, utilities, and more.

  • Evaluate client business, process, systems, and technology requirements and advise clients on best practices to help guide and solidify proposed designs.

  • Consult with clients to assess current problem states, establish desired future states, and make solution recommendations.

  • Participate in the detailed solution design, implementation, and delivery of Ping Identity IAM product solutions to our clients.

  • Work with customers to install, deploy, and configure Ping Identity solutions to meet the customer's requirements.

  • Collaborate with Ping Internal teams on escalated customer issues requiring deployment expertise.

  • Participate in services pre-sales processes including presentation of effort size, best practices, and feasibility studies.

  • Develop materials for providing technical consulting (e.g., best practices, report templates, delivery guides, knowledge base articles).

  • Help partners ensure they design an architecture aligned to Ping best practices for a successful customer deployment.

  • Mentor and assist in the development of internal and external technical resources.

  • Lead technical delivery from discovery and design through implementation, testing, production readiness, and handover, coordinating dependencies and surfacing delivery risks early.

  • Design and validate secure, scalable, highly available IAM deployments across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, including integration, operational, and disaster-recovery considerations.

  • Troubleshoot complex implementation and production issues by analysing logs, traces, configurations, and network behaviour; work with Support and Product Engineering to drive resolution where needed.

  • Define and execute technical validation activities, including integration, end-to-end, performance, and resilience testing, and support cutover and go-live planning.

  • Produce clear implementation documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials so customer and partner teams can operate and support the solution after delivery.

  • Balance strong security controls with a seamless user experience when shaping identity journeys and recommendations.

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a consulting capacity with a minimum of 2 years working directly in the Identity and Access Management space within a large organization or enterprise

  • Background in a consulting capacity within the Identity and Access Management space, including practical System Integration and Implementation experience

  • A capability-maturity approach to IAM deployments

  • Comfortable with subjects such as TCP/IP networking, OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, OIDC, LDAP, and Data Stores

  • Experience with Java/JavaScript/Groovy, HTML/CSS to support web application development

  • Experience in effort estimates and sizing of projects

  • Self-motivated, willing to take initiative, organized, able to work unaccompanied, and manage communications appropriately

  • Bachelor of Science in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Systems) or equivalent work-related level of experience

  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Outstanding cross-functional cooperation skills in particular with our Go-To-Market units.

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written

  • Practical experience integrating IAM platforms with enterprise directories, applications, APIs, and identity systems, including federation, authentication, and user lifecycle or provisioning flows.

  • Experience with identity standards and protocols such as SCIM, HTTP/REST APIs, and common directory and federation patterns, in addition to OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, OIDC, FIDO and LDAP.

  • Experience designing or delivering IAM solutions in cloud, hybrid, or on-premises environments, including deployment, upgrade, resilience, and operational support considerations.

  • Strong diagnostic skills across application, identity, and network layers, with experience using logs and traces to isolate and resolve integration issues.

  • Experience planning and carrying out technical testing, production cutovers, and transition to customer or partner operations.

  • Ability to facilitate technical discovery and design workshops, explain trade-offs clearly, and adapt recommendations to customer constraints and desired outcomes.

  • Experience working within structured delivery practices, including managing technical risks, dependencies, decisions, and changes across a customer engagement.

You have an advantage if:

  • Computer and Software Security certifications

  • ForgeRock or Ping training badges/certifications

  • Skills with DevOps best practices, including deployment automation tools, CI/CD, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes

  • Experience with Ping Identity products and architectures, such as PingFederate, PingAccess, PingDirectory, PingOne, or PingID.

  • Experience with identity governance, privileged access, customer identity, or workforce identity use cases beyond a single IAM product or deployment pattern.

  • Familiarity with observability and operational tooling, such as centralised logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing.

  • Experience with source control, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and automated testing for repeatable IAM deployments.

  • Experience migrating identity services, applications, or user populations from legacy platforms to modern IAM architectures.
