Rockwell Collins seeks an experienced System Safety Engineer to perform safety tasks on development programs involving flight deck avionics, communication, landing systems, ejection seats, and navigation radios.

Responsibilities:

• Perform Safety Hazard Analysis per MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP4761, etc.
• Attend design reviews and support investigations of design or quality issues.
• Develop work standards and provide safety training and coaching.
• Manage programs through their lifecycle, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Lead decision-making within Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
• Communicate safety strategies and issues to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years, or 14 years of experience without a degree.
• Basic circuit analysis and schematic reading skills.
• Experience with reliability techniques, technical report writing, and safety assessment standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, SAE ARP 4761, and safety assessment tools like CAFTA.
• Experience with change and requirements management tools, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, and safety-critical product design.
• Additional skills include pilot training, flight experience, mechanical/electrical engineering background, ERP systems, and Six Sigma practices.
