Job summary

TAG, a defense technology leader with 30+ years of experience in PNT, seeks a Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer to join our team. You will collaborate with hardware, software, and test engineering across programs, developing test plans, performing integration, and verifying systems in lab and field settings.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficient with test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, multimeters, etc.
  • Comfortable navigating a Linux environment including the command line, scripting, and debugging utilities.
  • Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups, demonstrating equipment, and testing in front of customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Testing: Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation.
  • Hardware Buildup and Integration: Build and document hardware/test assets.
  • Software integration: Install software on prototype systems and validate features.
  • Platform Integration: Plan and execute integration and test across military equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues; support failure analysis.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data; provide detailed reports of results.
  • Document and Communicate: Create/test procedures, reports, bug tickets and materials.
  • Collaborate: Coordinate with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Offsite support: Travel to conduct tests at vendor/customer sites.

Role Description

This role will report to our Technical Director and operates within a matrixed organization, partnering with systems, hardware, software, and test engineering teams across the program. The Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer is an evolving hands on role that will include supporting hardware build up, installing software and firmware, testing, troubleshooting, developing test cases, and reports. An average day as a Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer at TAG will see you handling some combination of the tasks below:

  1. Testing: Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments and then perform and/or execute the test
  2. Hardware Buildup and Integration: Support the unique buildup of test assets, which includes understanding the requirements, physically completing the build, and documenting the build.
  3. Software integration: Installing software and hardware on prototype systems to test and validate features and functions, and provide feedback and results.
  4. Platform Integration: Plan and execute the integration and test effort in a wide variety of military equipment.
  5. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging, along with supporting failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action.
  6. Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to ensure system performance and provide detailed reports of the results.
  7. Document and Communicate: Create and modify documentation including test procedures, reports, bug tickets, and other materials.
  8. Collaborate: Interface and coordinate across engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and sub contractors.
  9. Offsite support: Occasional travel to conduct tests and demonstrate equipment, vendor facilities, and customer locations as needed.
Qualifications you must have:
  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  2. Hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  3. Proficient with test equipment including, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, multi meters, etc.
  4. Comfortable navigating a Linux environment including utilizing the command line, running scripts, and working with debugging utilities.
  5. Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  6. Comfortable presenting to groups, demonstrating equipment, and conducting testing in front of customers.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualification we prefer:
  1. Experience working with embedded GNSS systems, understanding of GPS concepts, experience with GNSS simulators, an understanding of PNT distribution to external systems and users.
  2. Technical documentation: Experience generating technical documentation such as trade studies, test plans, test procedures, or technical reports.
  3. Presentations: Experience managing and presenting technical data to stakeholders and customer communities in design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
