Job description

About the Role

Principal Requirements and Verification Systems Engineer in Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems. The position is located in one of the following locations: San Diego, CA; El Segundo, CA; or Palmdale, CA. Relocation assistance may be available. A Top Secret clearance is required for start, with clearance type Top Secret, and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Travel of up to 25% of the time may be required. Work is full‑time and on‑site; no remote or hybrid arrangement is available.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform system definition activities for features and design requirements (DRs), including defining use cases, requirements, and feature acceptance criteria.
  • Support cross‑IPT development of system and segment level requirements and use cases.
  • Implement requirements verification methodology and traceability.
  • Support development of interface definitions and integration plans.
  • Conduct formal integration and capability‑based system‑level testing of fully integrated complex software and hardware subsystems.
  • Evaluate integration and test anomalies and assist disposition and correction of issues as found.
  • Perform requirements verification and sell‑off.
  • Provide support to flight test and fielded assets.
  • Coordinate with REs and System Test to ensure integrated functions are ready for the test team to formally verify.
  • Work dynamically in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating action orientation, strong attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Support Systems Engineering milestones SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Leverage knowledge of the full lifecycle of Systems Engineering, including requirements decomposition, test planning, requirements verification, and requirements management.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field and 5 years of relevant military or professional experience, OR Master of Science degree in a STEM field and 3 years of relevant military or professional experience, OR PhD and 1 year of relevant military or professional experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance or higher (background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current SAP clearance to program.
  • Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience in Integrated Circuit Design (ICD) development and integration.
  • Experience in System Test.
  • Proven ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.
  • Experience with multiple disciplines across Systems Engineering, including requirements, integration, technical configuration management (CM or Technical Baseline), and cyber.
  • Experience in DOORS and Atlassian Tool Suite.
  • Experience with Agile Design Methodology.
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00. The above range is a general guideline; base salary offers consider position scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Vice‑President or Director positions may be eligible for Long‑Term Incentives.
