Overview

Principal Systems Engineer (Onsite) at Collins Aerospace. Location: FL915: St. Petersburg - Bldg D, 7401 22nd Ave N, Building D, St. Petersburg, FL, 33710, USA. Onsite role with potential travel and flexible hours to meet program milestones. Active US Secret security clearance is required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. This position requires an active US Secret Security clearance. The Principal Systems Engineer contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle, within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. The role involves defining requirements, design, and architecture of subsystems that comprise the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) product line, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS).

This role may include opportunities for travel and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met.

What You Will Do
  • Leadership role with a focus on Systems development: Systems Architect, Lead Systems Engineer, Agile Leadership (e.g., Product Release Manager, Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, Scrum Master).
  • Lead and support requirements and algorithm development, system level designs, and system level models using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Author testable requirements and associated verification approaches aligned with appropriate verification methods.
  • Perform integration and test activities in-house or at site locations.
  • Utilize DOORS to manage the complete life cycle of requirements, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Change Notices (CNs).
  • Attend internal and external Configuration Control Boards (CCBs).
  • Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership.
  • Earned Value Management efforts such as Basis of Estimate (BoE) Author/Reviewer, Proposal support and formal cost and schedule estimating.
  • General oversight of system development and maturity as the system and software progress through the Engineering life cycle.
  • Innovative thought and implementation of automated test execution and data analysis using scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Experience in the development, design, and architecture of complex military systems, including planning, leading, and executing the development of systems and software requirements; experience with DOORS for requirements management and linking requirements to test procedures.
  • Experience with software/systems modeling and simulations and MBSE tools (Rhapsody, Cameo, MagicDraw).
  • Experience in data analysis, interpretation of results, corrective actions, and testing and monitoring KPIs and/or TPMs.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in operation, test, and troubleshooting of Naval systems.
  • Development of integration, verification, and validation planning documents, plans, procedures, reports, and related documentation.
  • Experience with Agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Experience in programming C/C++, Python; Linux knowledge; DevSecOps/TDD/BDD; Security+ certification.
  • Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis.

Salary range: 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for additional benefits and incentive programs dependent on business unit and role.
