Qualifications

  • BS in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant military or professional experience.
  • MS in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant military or professional experience.
  • PhD in a STEM field with 1+ year of relevant military, professional or academic experience.
  • Experience with object‑oriented programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C#/++ etc.).
  • Experience developing software for Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.).
  • Active US Government Top Secret clearance, or a clearance completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in continuous evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer – Model Development located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role requires a self‑starter with strong experience in Integrated Product Team environments and agile software development.

Responsibilities
  • Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software.
  • In‑depth understanding and application of technical principles in the field listed under basic qualifications.
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and systems that incorporate logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Develop software and analytical tools for real‑time system modeling and constructive simulations.
  • Solicit input from stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to leadership.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM field and 5 years of relevant military or professional experience;
  • or Master of Science in a STEM field and 3 years of relevant military or professional experience;
  • or PhD in a STEM field and 1 year of relevant military, professional or academic experience.
  • Experience with object‑oriented programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C#/++, etc.).
  • Experience developing software for Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current SAP clearance.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience in mission planning and CONOPS development.
  • Experience in systems performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Experience modeling or simulating RF propagation, electronic warfare, radar, missiles, aircraft, or satellites.
  • Experience developing physics‑based models and simulations using object‑oriented programming.
  • Experience with system‑of‑systems modeling tools: AFSIM, Suppressor, or Brawler.
  • Systems and software integration experience.
  • Ability to work in a rapid prototyping environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with project/analysis lead experience.

Salary – $114,000.00 – $171,000.00 (annual base; bonuses and incentives may apply). Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives as applicable.
