Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to advance a next‑generation robotic platform for healthcare. You will architect complex robotics systems, drive verification strategies, and lead multi-disciplinary teams across software, mechanical, electrical, and controls to ensure complete requirements coverage and a harmonized test plan.

The role focuses on design transfer, V&V, and preparing for product launches.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years’ electromechanical R&D engineering experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
• Master’s degree in Software, Controls, Mechatronics, Electrical, Robotics, or a closely related field is required.
• Outstanding documentation and communication skills required.
• Experience in managing complex engineering projects required.
• Must have previous experience launching complex electromechanical systems.
• Must have MATLAB/Simulink proficiency. LabVIEW proficiency is desired.
• Must have strong technical and analytical abilities including DOE, FMEA, and statistical analysis.
• Must be proficient in design control procedures.
• Working knowledge of applicable medical device regulatory standards i.e.: FDA 21CFR 820, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, ISO 14971, etc is desired.
• Able to execute multiple assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be a self-starter with strong leadership skills and deep technical competencies.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design of system integration and test approach from components, PCBAs, subassemblies, assemblies, and subsystem to system level with focus on software and controls.
• Derives strategies to detect issues and faults at the appropriate levels of assemblies.
• Works closely with different cross functional teams to generate/refine the appropriate requirements at optimal integration levels.
• Derives strategies for system diagnostics and to monitor system performances matrices.
• Authors/co-authors relevant documents such as integration and test architecture and plans, test protocols, test methods, test reports, analyses, and system documentation.
• Supports a variety of multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects of different sizes and scopes.
• Supports establishment of traceability matrices for all levels of requirements.
• Communicates information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written) with stakeholders, project team.
• Manages and deliver assigned projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams within agreed delivery timelines.
• Might mentor less experienced engineers.

The Principal Systems Engineer will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare. You will be a highly visible technical resource working on architecting complex robotics system from requirement establishment, test approach and tool selection, and traceability matrices in close collaboration with Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Controls, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, and other functions. The main objective is to ensure complete requirements coverage with a harmonized test plan for all levels of testing. This role is suited for an experienced, R&D lead engineer with a strong track record of requirements writing, test design, definition, and implementation for complex robotics systems. The initial phase is to support successful exit of V&V phase, followed by design transfer, and product launch. You will have a great opportunity to lead system integration and test process, define optimal requirement layers, specify verification approach, support development of test tools, and support development of test protocols that pave the path to successful system development and launch.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Software, Controls, Mechatronics, Electrical, Robotics, or a closely related field is required. Exceptional undergraduate candidates will be considered.

The Base Pay Range For This Position Is

$165,490 - $227,546

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
