Job summary

Fox News Media is seeking a Principal Systems Design Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of broadcast infrastructure projects in the New York area. You will oversee lifecycle activities for control rooms, studios, and technical spaces, coordinating internal teams, vendors, and clients.

The role requires PMP certification, strong broadcast/IT infrastructure knowledge, IP-based solutions, and cloud workflow familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing technical projects focused on broadcast, A/V, or media technology systems integration.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of routing, signal flow, networking, and storage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with IP-based broadcast solutions (SMPTE 2110, NDI).
  • Familiarity with cloud media workflows (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the entire project lifecycle for broadcast systems installations, upgrades, and migrations (control rooms, studios & technical spaces).
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables with senior management; develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation models.
  • Coordinate and manage internal engineering teams, external vendors, contractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and identify/mitigate potential risks to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including specifications, change orders, status reports, and final handover documentation.
  • Possess working knowledge of modern broadcast technologies (IP video/SMPTE 2110, cloud-based systems, baseband infrastructure, asset management).

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Systems Design Engineer to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of our cutting-edge broadcast infrastructure and technology projects.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Lead and manage the entire project lifecycle for broadcast systems installations, upgrades, and migrations (e.g., control rooms, studios & technical spaces).
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation models.
  • Coordinate and manage internal engineering teams, external vendors, contractors, and client stakeholders.

  • Possess a working knowledge of modern broadcast technologies (e.g., IP video/SMPTE 2110, cloud-based systems, baseband infrastructure, asset management).
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Experience managing technical projects, specifically focused on broadcast, A/V, or media technology systems integration.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong understanding of core broadcast and IT infrastructure concepts (e.g., routing, signal flow, networking, storage).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Expert proficiency with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, AutoCAD, Jira) and standard office productivity tools.
  • Experience with IP-based broadcast solutions (SMPTE 2110, NDI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud media workflows (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $114,000.00-200,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
