Job summary

Onshape Inc. in Boston seeks a Principal System Operations Engineer/Developer to deploy, expand and monitor our global cloud CAD platform. You’ll own automation, scale services and ensure robust, secure operations for a distributed SaaS.

You’ll work in a fast-moving team, focusing on logs, deployments, and on-call rotations, using Linux, Puppet/Ansible, Terraform and CloudFormation in AWS/Azure/GCP environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, science, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in a highly technical, hands-on operations / DevOps / support / QA role.
• Experience with large AWS, Azure, or GCP environments is strongly recommended.
• Strong experience with administering and deploying on Linux systems.
• Experience with automated deployment and monitoring tools like Puppet and Ansible.
• Experience with automated Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, etc
• Experience with backend databases like MongoDB or Elasticsearch is a plus
• Experience supporting Java applications a plus
• Python or bash scripting a plus

Responsibilities

• Review logs to debug issues with deployed, globally distributed environments.
• Take ownership of new solutions, ideas, assignments, actions, and issues, and drive them to completion.
• Work on stories and fixes within a 3-week Agile release process and CI/CD pipeline.
• On-call rotation on average 1 week at a time every two months.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $118,000 - 180,000. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance-based bonus.
