Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal, System Engineering - AI/Cloud/Applications based in United States.

This is a senior technical coordination role focused on connecting application, platform, infrastructure, data, security, and operations teams.
You will help troubleshoot complex enterprise technology issues and turn business needs into clear technical solutions.
The role combines hands-on engineering support, architecture alignment, delivery coordination, and AI use-case evaluation.
You will contribute across design, integration, testing, release, and operational readiness activities.
A key focus will be assessing AI opportunities for technical feasibility, data readiness, architecture fit, and governance requirements.
You will work with senior engineers, architects, governance teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to remove blockers and drive execution.
This opportunity is well suited to a technically strong leader who thrives in complex environments and can translate across teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Coordinate technical activities across application, platform, infrastructure, data, security, operations, and third-party teams, ensuring dependencies and follow-ups are clearly tracked through completion.
  • Support the triage, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex technical issues, participating in root cause analysis and helping teams identify sustainable solutions.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into well-defined technical problems, working with engineers and architects to clarify requirements and align on appropriate approaches.
  • Participate in technical working sessions, architecture discussions, and design reviews, identifying gaps, risks, dependencies, and areas requiring escalation.
  • Support engineering teams throughout development, integration, testing, and release activities by helping remove technical blockers and maintain alignment with requirements and standards.
  • Review solution designs for completeness and established architectural standards, while supporting validation of performance, resiliency, monitoring, logging, auditability, and security requirements.
  • Support AI use-case intake and technical assessment by evaluating feasibility, data readiness, integration requirements, architectural fit, and operational considerations.
  • Collaborate with AI governance teams to ensure proposed AI solutions follow appropriate review processes, controls, and organizational guardrails, routing use cases to the relevant architecture, governance, or platform teams.
  • Support integrated testing and user acceptance testing from a technical-readiness perspective, including defect identification, triage, and resolution coordination.
  • Coordinate technical activities involving vendors and third parties, including integrations, upgrades, implementations, and related issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, design notes, requirements, operational artifacts, and status reporting for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Identify recurring technical challenges and recommend improvements to tools, architecture patterns, workflows, and engineering processes.
  • Provide clear, timely updates on technical status, risks, issues, dependencies, and resolution plans to technical leads, managers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience; a master’s degree in business, information systems, public health, computer science, or a related field is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical roles, preferably within the healthcare payer industry or another complex enterprise environment.
  • Proven experience leading or coordinating software and systems development initiatives within structured organizations, with exposure to both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong experience across architecture and implementation-level software design, requirements capture, analysis, and process improvement.
  • Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and configuration, together with knowledge of other cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience evaluating or designing AI use cases, including the ability to assess technical feasibility, data requirements, integration considerations, and architectural fit.
  • Strong understanding of complex enterprise design patterns and the ability to whiteboard solutions and guide cross-functional technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot large, complex enterprise applications using appropriate diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including the ability to influence teams, coordinate stakeholders, and drive initiatives toward defined outcomes.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at multiple levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare payer systems, standards, protocols, regulations, and compliance requirements is preferred.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative to quickly learn new technologies, concepts, architectures, and technical approaches.
  • Relevant certifications such as Azure Cloud, PEGA, Salesforce, or comparable technology credentials are a plus.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual compensation range of $105,958.12 to $229,575.94, with actual compensation determined by factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skills.
  • Full-time opportunity with a U.S.-based, remote position.
  • Competitive benefits and total compensation package.
  • Opportunity to work across AI, cloud, enterprise applications, architecture, security, and data initiatives.
  • Exposure to complex, enterprise-scale technology programs and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Opportunities to contribute to emerging AI use cases and technology governance initiatives.
  • Collaborative environment focused on technical problem-solving, innovation, and continuous learning.
