CA Pay Range (Annual): $161,000.00 - $299,000.00

The Software Rapid Response role involves interacting cross-functionally with SW/ FW / HW Engineering, Product Line Management (PLM), Architecture, Software Verification Team (SVT), and Global Technical Support (GTS) Teams to effectively and efficiently resolve the issues affecting the Customers networks.

As an SwRRT Engineer, you will work closely with one of the major global ICPs gathering feature requirements, helping to onboard, participate in recovery efforts during critical outages, analyze logs to isolate faults, determine root causes, and work towards defect resolution. You will be part of the SW/product release cycle, providing software solutions through product enhancement, debuggability requirements during release planning/discussions. You will also work closely with SVT to optimize their test plans & RCCA discussions as per the ICP use-cases.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Good troubleshooting and debugging skills to handle worldwide field escalations into Optical Systems Engineering.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer issues in both Production and Lab environments to perform efficient and detailed RCA of field issues.
  • Provide quick post-FCS solutions to customer issues, completing root cause analysis, temporary workarounds for recovery, and working with the development team for corrective actions.
  • Produce and deliver post-mortem actions to prevent similar issues in future products by incorporating lessons learned from the field.
  • Participate actively in System Development Lifecycle processes (requirements review, design discussions, peer code review, working with product management for customer scenarios and use cases).
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders within different engineering and services teams and with customers to maintain customer confidence and experience.
  • Discuss with Architecture team to determine necessary architectural changes if needed.
  • Provide on-demand suggestions to the Architecture Team on ICP usage for feature planning.
  • Enhance the ability of services teams to reduce escalations by building tools, knowledge bases, and debug recipes.
  • Implement process improvements in Engineering to prevent breakages, including checklists and regression testing.
Mandatory Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a software development organization.
  • Engineering degree or Master’s in CS, EC from reputed institutes.
  • Experience with high-demand, fast-paced environments involving global ICPs.
  • Deep knowledge of software systems, development, and operationalization in hyperscale Data Center environments, including Agile, SDN, DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Excellent design analysis skills, including software modeling, understanding platform boot-up, device drivers, hardware-software interactions, high availability, software reuse, performance, testability, and extensibility.
  • Experience with QNX or Linux RTOS is required.
  • Deep understanding of optical fiber networking, including transponders, OLS, Sub-sea, Pluggable components.
  • Knowledge of optical network protocols (OTN, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, etc.) and management interfaces (Netconf, Restconf, gRPC).
  • Self-driven, able to make decisions independently, and perform under pressure.
Additional Skills & Knowledge:
  • Understanding of coherent communication systems, QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM, coding, and FEC algorithms.
  • Experience with ROADM, EDFA, Raman Amplifiers, Coherent Transponders.
  • Experience with SDN technologies such as OpenFlow or OpenStack.
  • Experience with system control plane protocols (OSPF, MPLS, LDP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Python for automation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for complex network scenarios.
