Job description

Defines and develops material strategy. Responsible for the assessment of supply resources; aggregates and prioritizes demand requirements; plans inventory, distribution requirements, production, material and rough-cut capacity for all products. Participates in make/buy process, long-term capacity and resource planning; product phase-in/phase-out, manufacturing ramp-up, end-of-life management, and product-line management. Analyzes and aggregates supply/demand requirements. Uses Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools to analyze purchase material supply/demand position. Plans inventory levels based on dependent and independent Bill-of-Materials (BOM) requirements. Assesses rough-cut capacity for current and short-term manufacturing needs. Creates or reduces supply requirements based on inventory adjustments. Participates in long-term capacity and resource planning to ensure proper scheduling of new product line phase-ins and existing product line phase-outs. Coordinates with the Source process area regarding inventory levels, working capital, and other related areas. Creates and reviews requisitions for non-standard parts. Analyzes lead times and identifies critical path procurements.

The Category Management Planning Specialist will support multiple programs with Foundries and Microelectronics Critical Suppliers across the Mission Systems Sector by aligning program needs with sector strategies.

  • Negotiates, manages, and fosters strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Defines and develops material strategy aligned with Sector and Program Strategy.
  • Implements metrics to ensure savings goals are met and performance requirements are achieved.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to analyze supply base risks and opportunities, supporting program needs.
  • Responsible for the assessment of supply resources.
  • Aggregates and prioritizes demand requirements.
  • Analyzes and aggregates supply/demand requirements.
  • Uses MRP tools to analyze purchase material supply/demand position.
  • Plans inventory levels based on BOM requirements.
  • Assesses rough-cut capacity for current and short-term manufacturing.
  • Creates or reduces supply requirements based on inventory adjustments.
  • Participates in long-term capacity and resource planning for product line phase-ins and phase-outs.
  • Interfaces with the Source process regarding inventory levels and working capital.
  • Reviews requirements for non-standard parts.
  • Analyzes lead times and identifies critical path procurements.
  • This role can be hired at a level 3, with options for 100% remote work or based out of Baltimore, MD. Travel is expected to be 25%.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Supply Chain Planning Specialist 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in supply chain or business management, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Management, Operations, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar systems.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing programs, subcontracts, materials, financials, or services.
  • Proven negotiation skills with suppliers.
  • Experience presenting to Senior Leadership and clients.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASCM/APICS Supply Chain Certification.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
  • PMP certification or training.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Current DOD Secret Clearance.
