We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) Business Area's (BA) Research Computing (RC) organization seeks HPC professionals to support its growing teams of scientists and engineers. The MDA RC organization is responsible for the design, development, deployment, security, operation, monitoring, management, and support of all computational hardware and software used for basic research, modeling and simulation, circuit design, and circuit testing. RC oversees multiple highly complex large compute clusters that are required in the daily work of users of diverse backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities. RC is searching for HPC operations, administration, and applications experts excited to learn new technologies and contribute to a highly dynamic organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist our Research Computing and Development teams to implement and manage their Change Control Boards (CCB).
  • Collaborate with Cost Account Manager (CAM) activities.
  • Lead Configuration/Change Control Board activities.
  • Collaborate with solution providers and partners to verify capabilities satisfy program requirements.
  • Participate in design validation approaches to ensure the system fulfills its operational objectives and stakeholder requirements in its intended operational setting.
  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements.
  • Assist in developing system level roadmaps capturing the advancement of MDA and other relevant technologies.

This position requires work on site located at our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Research Computing Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 5 years of related experience or MS with 3 years of related experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience with systems or software development, integration, and test.
  • Experience with requirements management from elicitation to verification, facilitating internal and customer collaboration to capture and enhance engineering artifacts
  • Familiarity managing risk and opportunity for production of core engineering work products and can track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
  • Familiarity managing configuration of complex networks and multi-site compute infrastructure.
  • Familiarity documenting detailed IT infrastructure configurations.
  • Familiarity with IT and network security accreditation documentation and process.
  • Candidate Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Research Computing Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar technical discipline with 8 years of related experience or MS with 6 years of related experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with systems or software development, integration, and test.
  • Experience with requirements management from elicitation to verification, facilitating internal and customer collaboration to capture and enhance engineering artifacts.
  • Familiarity managing risk and opportunity for production of core engineering work products and can track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
  • Familiarity managing configuration of complex networks and multi-site compute infrastructure.
  • Familiarity documenting detailed IT infrastructure configurations.
  • Familiarity with IT and network security accreditation documentation and process.
  • Candidate Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $131,100.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
