We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal/Sr. Principal Network Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Principal/Sr. Principal Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll Get To Do

The selected individual will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of the program’s network architecture.

Roles & Responsibilities Include But Aren’t Limited To

  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment
  • Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program’s systems
  • Implement engineering changes to the system as required
  • Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
  • Responsible for completing the network configurations and coordinating with the peers, SMEs, and government engineers.
  • Occasional travel may be required (25%)

This position may be filled as a Principal Network Engineer or Sr Principal Network Engineer.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 1 year with a PhD
    • An additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
  • Experience with configuration and management of Cisco, Palo Alto, or Arista network appliances
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Management/Monitoring Tools (e.g.,WhatsUpGold, Splunk, SolarWinds) and Techniques
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the datalink or network layer
  • Experience with Unix, Linux and Windows environments and processes.
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active/current U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance or higher.

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience; or 6 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 4 years with a PhD
    • An additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
  • Experience with configuration and management of Cisco, Palo Alto, or Arista network appliances
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Management/Monitoring Tools (e.g.,WhatsUpGold, Splunk, SolarWinds) and Techniques
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the datalink or network layer
  • Experience with Unix, Linux and Windows environments and processes.
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access as a condition of continued employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with more than one of Cisco, Palo Alto, and Arista
  • Experience with encapsulations, IP addressing and subnetting, and QoS
  • Experience with virtual machines and hypervisors, such as ESXi, KVM or Hyper-V
  • Experience with multiple networking protocols across client-server platforms as well as an understanding of Ethernet, HDLC, RADIUS, TCP/IP, VRF, OSPF, UDP, DHCP, and SFTP
  • Experience with network configuration of NSA Encryption devices (KG175D/F/G and KG250)
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00Salary Range 2: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
