Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:

1. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical systems design
2. Evaluating mechanical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs.
3. Ensures product quality by reviewing mechanical designs and validating that current standards are applied.
4. Supports the delivery of Mechanical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts
5. Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues
6. Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
7. Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
8. Developing and maturing Mechanical System designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either level:

Principal Mechanical Engineer:

• Bachelor's in STEM + 5 years experience, or 3 years with Master's, or 4 with PhD

Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer:

• Bachelor's in STEM + 8 years experience, or 6 with Master's, or 4 with PhD

Required for Both Levels:

• US Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance within last 6 years
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval
• Experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX or similar)
• Experience with mechanical design on defense or aerospace projects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to interpret requirements

Preferred qualifications include independent work ability, strong communication skills, experience with missile programs and propulsion, proficiency in NX CAD, PDM/CPLM, and GD&T.
