Principal / Sr. Principal Material Process Engineer - 14698* - R10195654-2

Join Northrop Grumman as a Principal / Sr. Principal Material Process Engineer. This role offers relocation assistance, a secret clearance requirement, and travel up to 10%. The position supports the Sentinel program and is based in Huntsville, AL or Manhattan Beach, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineers on non-metallic materials, including environmental coatings, adhesives, sealants, and composites.
• Create material, process, and component specifications to meet program needs.
• Lead qualification processes for new materials and aging studies.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and subcontractors to resolve qualification and producibility issues.
• Manage Bill-of-Materials and related documentation in PLM systems.
• Support supply chain activities regarding procurement and supplier selection.
• Tailor non-metallic requirements across system levels.
• Assist subcontractors with material requirements and review data lists.

Qualifications

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• Principal Level: Bachelor's in STEM + 5 years, or Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 4 years.
• Senior Principal Level: Bachelor's in STEM + 8 years, or Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 4 years.

Mandatory Skills and Clearances:

• US Citizen with active DoD Secret clearance within last 6 years.
• Ability to obtain SAP access.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in materials testing, qualification, and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of accelerated aging methodologies and relevant MIL standards.
• Experience with failure analysis and space application standards.
• Active DOD Top-Secret clearance is a plus.
