Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Sr Principal Engineer DMSMS to join the Aerospace Systems team in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA. This full-time on-site role requires a Secret clearance with potential TS/SAP/SCI eligibility and up to 25% travel.

The candidate will lead obsolescence mitigation, develop strategic roadmaps, coordinate with suppliers, and engage senior management to ensure program success.

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr Principal Engineer DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources or Material Shortages), to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, collect, record, track, and verify data from multiple sources and maintain mitigation records.
• Lead obsolescence mitigation activities including scheduling meetings, briefings, and discussion topics; preparation of agendas and meeting minutes.
• Participate in working groups and ad hoc committees/meetings.
• Analyze and predict production and sustainment requirements to construct strategic obsolescence roadmaps for end-of-life subsystems and components. Information to consider includes reliability, spares posture, technology insertion roadmap, supplier’s capabilities, and customer concurrence.
• Engage senior management to ensure coordination and integration of DMS resolution activities.
• Work with suppliers to ensure obsolescence issues are resolved at the lowest cost while maintaining high quality and reliability.
• Assist in developing program metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of obsolescence mitigation activities.
• Identify and pursue process improvements.
• Organize, integrate, and lead group projects that aggregate obsolescence data into a system view.

This position may be filled at a Principal Engineer or Senior Principal - Product Support (DMSMS) level based on the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications: Principal Engineer DMSMS (Level 3)

• Must have a Bachelor's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related experience.
• Must have 2 years of experience in proactive DMSMS/obsolescence management.
• Must have advanced proficiency with MS Excel (extensive formula calculations, pivot tables/charts, macros, etc.).
• Must have an active Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Issued Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
• US Citizenship is a requirement for employment.

Basic Qualifications: Sr Principal Engineer DMSMS (Level 4)

• Must have a Bachelor's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master's of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related experience.
• Must have 3 years of experience in proactive DMSMS/obsolescence management.
• Must have experience leading analyses spanning complex/multifunctional disciplines.
• Must have advanced proficiency with MS Excel (extensive formula calculations, pivot tables/charts, macros, etc.).
• Must have an active Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
• US Citizenship is a requirement for employment.

Preferred Qualifications (for both levels)

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a focus on data analysis, statistics, or system modeling.
• Current active in-scope U.S. Government Issued Top Secret Clearance with special access.
• Previous project management experience.
• Experience with data mining techniques.
• Relevant experience in adjacent logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) & Maintenance Planning, Modeling & Simulation (ModSim), Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, Training & Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $193,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
