Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Principal Specialist, Supplier Quality & Development to drive supplier quality excellence and cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Procurement and Operations.

The role focuses on audits, corrective actions, and ASL maintenance, with travel up to 25%. This hybrid position supports the Interiors SBU and requires strong experience in aerospace QMS standards.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes (auditing, RCCA, KPI oversight, improvement initiatives).
  • Cross functional project management with external suppliers and internal teams.
  • Strong problem solving methodologies: 8D, APQP, PPAP.
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, and proactive supplier performance improvement.
  • Experience with supplier non-conformance evaluation and processing.
  • Proven success managing complex supplier quality projects in cross-functional settings.
  • Knowledge of aerospace QMS standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO9120).
  • Preferred: CQE Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex supplier quality projects and mitigate risks in the supply base.
  • Partner across Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Supplier Management to ensure robust supplier performance.
  • Serve as the SBU focal for the Interiors SBU.
  • Manage supplier non-conformance and corrective action activities (ETQ, QN).
  • Lead 1st-3rd party supplier audits as the key representative of supplier quality.
  • Maintain site-level compliance to SBU and Collins processes for supplier quality.
  • Oversee ASL maintenance and supplier onboarding within ERP and ASL tool.
  • Travel up to 25%.

The Principal Specialist, Supplier Quality & Development

is a technical project manager that serves as the primary SBU (Sub Business Unit) focal and representative for GSQ (Global Supplier Quality) for the assigned plants and is responsible for driving supplier quality excellence, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and enabling strategic supplier development initiatives.

The role is a Hybrid position based in Phoenix, AZ.

What You Will Do
  • Oversee complex projects, lead supplier quality performance management activities, and proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks within the supply base.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted partner across Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Supplier Management to ensure robust, reliable, and continuously improving supplier performance.
  • Serve as the SBU focal for the Interiors SBU.
  • Support supplier non-conformance management and corrective action activities including ETQ corrective action management and QN processing.
  • Host 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party audits as the key representative of supplier quality.
  • Be responsible for managing and maintaining site level compliance to SBU and Collins level processes and procedures specific to supplier quality.
  • Be responsible for ASL (Approved Supplier List) maintenance, monitoring, and administration within the ERP and ASL tool including new supplier onboarding requests and existing supplier reviews.
  • Travel up to 25%.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Requires knowledge of key supplier quality processes typically obtained through experience or advanced education such as supplier auditing, RCCA management, KPI oversite and improvement initiative, risk based improvement initiatives.
  • Cross functional project management experience working with external suppliers and peer team/functions.
  • Strong understanding of problem solving methodologies such as 8D, APQP, PPAP.
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, and presentation with intent on developing proactive strategic supplier performance improvement initiatives.
  • Supplier non-conformance and non-compliance evaluation and processing.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex supplier quality projects or deliverables in a cross functional environment.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with industry and aerospace QMS certifications/standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO9120, and other common standards.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
