Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer for the In-Space Systems unit. You will lead the SSE team, shape program requirements, and ensure interfaces, architecture, and concepts of operations meet customer needs.

This role requires 15+ years of aerospace experience, strong problem solving, and TS/SCI clearance. Relocation offered; travel up to 10%. You will collaborate across AI&T, Launch Vehicle, and Mission Operations to deliver safe, reusable spacecraft.

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will apply your broad multi‑disciplinary engineering knowledge, skills, and methods to help ensure our spacecraft satisfies the needs of our critical partners through rigorous systems engineering practices.

As part our Blue Ring Spacecraft Systems Engineering team you will help ensure the program requirements, operational descriptions, and system designs have been shaped so that the overall system meets our customers’ needs.

You will assist in the definition and verification of system interfaces, architecture, and con ops.

Finally, you will work with all program interfaces including Assembly, Integration, & Test (AI&T), Mission Management, Launch Vehicle, Payloads, and Mission Operations.

The position requires strong collaboration within the SSE team and across the entire program.

In this fast‑paced and dynamic environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence and judgement, and a commitment to the highest technical standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field
  • Over 15 years of experience in crafting, developing, and launching aerospace systems, with a preference for robotic spacecraft experience
  • At least 6 years of expertise in aerospace systems engineering
  • Proven track record of leading all aspects of an aerospace project from requirements definition to verification
  • Extensive understanding of Systems Engineering processes and standard methodologies, including the "Systems Engineering V" model
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and proficiency in trade study methods
  • Leadership or management background with a history of mentoring team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in the spaceflight systems certification process.
  • Expertise in deriving and allocating system‑level requirements.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools like Confluence and JIRA.

Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $169,624.00 - $237,473.25

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre‑employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical.
