Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Principal Solid Waste Engineer or Geologist to lead a Midwest-based practice. You will mentor staff, drive business development, and contribute to design, permitting and project execution for solid waste and landfill projects.

The role offers hybrid or remote work with opportunities across Grand Rapids, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and other Midwest offices. A minimum of 10 years in the field and licensure are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in civil/geotechnical engineering, geology or environmental science.
• Professional licensure (P.E./P.G. or ability to obtain within 2 years).
• 10+ years of related experience (15+ preferred) in solid waste or related field.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills.
• Fieldwork up to 30% and travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Engage in sales, business development and client relationship management to expand solid waste market presence.
• Lead landfill engineering design including liner, final cover, gas systems and site closure.
• Civil design, transfer station design and site layout.
• Perform analyses: slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, seismic, seepage.
• Prepare designs, calculations, drawings and permit applications; mentor staff.
• Work in a team with professionals across multiple sites.
