Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Principal Software Systems Test Engineer in Huntsville, AL to lead test planning and execution across complex systems. The role requires DoD Secret Clearance, strong expertise in test engineering, and hands-on experience with automation and scripting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and minimum 5 years of experience, or Masters degree in STEM and 3 years of experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Strong understanding of test engineering principles (verification vs validation, coverage, boundary conditions, negative testing).
  • Experience with test case design techniques (equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, use cases, etc.).
  • Experience with test automation and at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Ability to read and interpret requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and design specs.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and version control (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with API testing, UI testing, performance or security testing as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain test plans, procedures, and test cases for assigned systems/subsystems.

  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and work with dev/Systems/QA to resolve defects.

  • Support continuous improvement of test processes, tools, and metrics

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is looking for a Principal Software Systems Test Engineer based in Huntsville, AL.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
