Job summary

Block, a Seattle-based company, seeks a Principal Security Engineer focused on Software Security Engineering. You will be a technical leader reporting to the CISO, setting the bar for security excellence and guiding the architecture of Block’s core products and infrastructure.

You will champion Secure by Design, drive multi-year strategy, mentor engineers, and collaborate with engineering and InfoSec to embed security in the SDLC and threat modeling for critical systems.

Qualifications

• Track record of exemplary technical leadership and decision-making at a Principal level.
• 10+ years shipping production software with 5+ years growing security practices in large tech.
• Deep system design skills and ability to tackle domain-heavy problems.
• Strong collaboration and ability to influence executives and engineering teams.
• Production-grade code/script for security automation and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver world-class software security solutions addressing top risks.
• Define multi-year technical strategy for software security at Block.
• Lead cross-unit security initiatives across Block’s product groups.
• Drive security reliability engineering to improve resilience and availability.
