Job summary

WEX Inc. is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to shape the Semantic Data Services and the Data-as-a-Service platform.

You will define architecture for semantic data objects, align with business domains, and build scalable patterns across the enterprise while mentoring engineers and staying hands-on with core components. You will collaborate with AI, product, analytics, risk, finance, and business teams to translate complex concepts into durable data representations and robust platform

Qualifications

Ten-plus years in software/Data engineering or distributed systems.
Experience designing scalable data platforms and semantic models.
Proficiency with semantic data technologies, ontology, and knowledge graphs.
Ability to translate complex business concepts into scalable technical abstractions.
Strong architectural judgment and leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

Define architecture and technical direction for semantic data lake and DaaS platform.
Build semantic objects combining data, context, lineage, and governance.
Develop scalable patterns, APIs, and developer experiences for data products and AI.
Mentor engineers and influence cross-team architectural decisions.
Remain hands-on with critical platform components and prototyping.
