Job summary

Array, a remote-first fintech-inspired platform, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead high-impact engineering initiatives across products. You will shape technical direction, improve scalability, and mentor senior engineers while delivering measurable outcomes with cross-team collaboration.

The role reports to the SVP of Engineering and involves operating across production systems, architecture, delivery, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff/Principal scope.
• Experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems with breadth across architecture, delivery, reliability, performance.
• Career history showing increasing scope and impact beyond own code.
• Self-directed, owning work in a remote environment with proactive communication.
• Curiosity, humility, and willingness to challenge assumptions; comfort with AI-enhanced work.
• Ability to leverage AI to accelerate thinking, building, and shipping.

Responsibilities

• Lead through ambiguity and drive initiatives from uncertainty to measurable outcomes.
• Improve architecture, platforms, and engineering practices for easier operation and scale.
• Shape technical direction across Array and align teams around the right path.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise overall team effectiveness.
• Own outcomes across teams and domains with minimal formal authority.
• Stay close to code, data, and production systems to build credibility.
• Default to using AI tools to think, build, and ship faster.
