Job summary

CVS Health is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead hands-on technical work across clinical decision-support apps deployed on Google Cloud. You will architect, build, and ship critical components for real-time systems, ML pipelines, and AI-enabled healthcare workflows.

You will mentor engineers, drive high-quality code reviews, and collaborate with Data Science, Product, and Security teams to meet enterprise standards for privacy, safety, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale.
• 5+ years as hands-on Staff/Principal‑level engineer (actively coding).
• Proficiency in Python including performance tuning and concurrency.
• 5+ years building real-time distributed systems with latency requirements.
• 5+ years in a major public cloud (GCP preferred).
• 3+ years building/operating production ML systems (MLOps).
• 3+ years creating LLM-powered production apps (RAG, vector search).
• Experience with React or Angular for modern UI components.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and execution of a real-time, multi-service platform on GCP.
• Build production-grade LLM systems and pipelines with evaluation frameworks.
• Deliver low-latency, highly available distributed services with strong fault tolerance.
• Operationalize ML: model deployment, drift detection, CI/CD quality controls.
• Design scalable APIs, microservices, and data contracts with strong testing and observability.
• Lead code reviews and raise engineering standards across CI/CD, security, and observability.
