Job summary

RTX's Patriot Software Team in Massachusetts seeks a Principal Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance C/C++ applications for complex systems. You will collaborate with architects, product leads, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced SCIF environment, with an onsite requirement and potential light travel.

Qualified candidates typically hold a STEM bachelor’s with 8+ years of experience and an active DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of experience.
• Experience in C/C++, Java or other OO languages.
• Experience in embedded/real-time or large-scale applications.
• Experience on Unix/Linux operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C and C++ for complex systems and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments.
• Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in C/C++ technologies, especially in relation to complex systems.
