Job summary

Trident Systems in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead Python-based development for PM&L and internal projects within the ICS unit.

You will design, implement, and test software across Linux environments, coordinating with hardware teams in a fast-paced defense-focused setting. Strong emphasis on data interfaces, clean architecture, and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with Python software development and production-quality code.
• Experience with Linux and Windows development environments.
• Familiarity with data formats such as JSON, CSV, XML, REST APIs.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, InfluxDB.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test custom software for condition-based maintenance and other internal projects.
• Develop software for data manipulation, storage, translation, sensor data capture, and export to different platforms.
• Convert and integrate data into standardized messaging formats and external interfaces.
• Build and maintain software interfaces to databases, APIs, file sources, and message brokers.
• Implement algorithms for data manipulation, analysis, and presentation.
• Develop software that operates with external hardware/software across Linux, Windows, Android.
• Document development efforts and support packaging, deployment, and troubleshooting.
