We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who has hands-on experience on both front-end (UI) and back-end technologies and extensive experience in solving web application performance bottlenecks and optimizing services and applications to improve overall performance of the system.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and deliver highly available and scalable solutions leveraging multi-region principles.
  2. Monitor the performance of web applications and provide technical leadership to drive performance improvements with industry standard and innovative techniques.
  3. Define and track key software performance indicators to drive continuous performance optimizations.
  4. Build sophisticated test suite and integrate with CI/CD to continuously measure performance and make it part of development practices.
  5. Recommend infrastructure upgrades to support business growth and evolving technology requirements.
  6. Ensure the integrity, security, compliance, and performance of platforms and the applications or services that reside within by partnering with peer engineering leads and architects.
  7. Partner with engineering teams to create and maintain documentation for key architecture and design decisions related to performance, availability, scalability and caching strategies.
  8. Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews.
  9. Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our applications by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, high performance, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored, and reusable.
  10. Improve test coverage for services; promote a “shift-left” mindset; organize and implement integration tests; and resolve problem areas.
  11. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and assess their applicability to the organization.
  12. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skill development.
  13. Lead and mentor a team of engineers; provide technical guidance, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Role Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. 8+ years of proven Full Stack Development experience building sophisticated applications and APIs in Cloud and hybrid cloud environments at large scale preferably in Java and React JS.
  3. 8+ years of solid experience and understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices for building highly scalable and maintainable systems.
  4. 5+ years of working experience with high-volume websites and high-velocity transactions and designing systems that can handle the demands of real-time or near-real-time data.
  5. 5+ years of experience in using observability tools such as APM, analytics platforms, etc.
  6. 5+ years of experience with identifying and solving performance bottlenecks of web pages at 90th + percentile with under 3 seconds load time.
  7. In-depth understanding and practical application of networking architecture principles and security: caching and content delivery (CDN).
  8. 5+ years of experience working with cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, to architect and implement scalable, high performance and efficient solutions.
  9. 5+ years of experience in using Synthetic Monitoring tools for analyzing and optimizing Front end performance metrics.
  10. 3+ years of experience in using Log Monitoring tools.

Desired Qualification and Skills:

  1. Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, adapt to emerging technologies, and implement industry best practices.
  2. Experience in building applications and performance scripts using AI Peer Programming tools.
  3. Proficient in using modern software development tools, version control systems (ex. Git), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  4. Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  5. Demonstrated ability to take ownership and responsibility of critical issues and conclude them to resolution.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to dissect complex technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.

Our Principal Engineer earns between $158,200.00-$237,400.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
