Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems. You will mentor engineers, shape technical direction, and champion best practices across agile teams at the CE Innovation Center in Jackson, MI.

You will lead high-impact initiatives, collaborate with business and IT partners, and drive innovative solutions while ensuring secure, reliable, and maintainable architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Associate, or HS diploma with extensive coding experience as listed.
• Strong alignment of technical leadership with enterprise architecture.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading Agile teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance on quality throughout the software lifecycle.
• Define vision for integrated solutions focusing on performance and security.
• Lead technical direction and ensure best practices across teams.
• Collaborate in Agile environments with clean coding principles.
