Job description

Principal Software Engineer – Solipsys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace (an RTX company), located in MAPLE LAWN, MD. This onsite position requires U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

What You Will Do

• Drive the design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
• Demonstrate leadership by coordinating the activities of multiple engineers, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for the customer.
• Proactively recognize issues early and lead and motivate teams by making decisive corrections to avoid larger problems.
• Communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the company, preparing and delivering presentations and summaries that appropriately address the intended audience.
• Work in a highly collaborative team environment to design, architect, and innovate software solutions.
• Travel up to 25% as required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Relevant work experience in software development using object‑oriented programming languages such as Java or C++.
• Experience with full life‑cycle development, including software requirements, design, development, debugging, and testing.
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
• Typically requires a degree in STEM and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands‑on individual experience with GraphQL, REST, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and related technologies.
• Experience driving the design and architecture of software applications and systems.
• Demonstrated skills with C++ technologies (Boost/STL/Standard C++ Library).
• Experience developing, assessing, and validating complex mathematical solutions such as track filters, track‑correlation algorithms, and weapon engagement algorithms for sensors and/or C2 programs.
• Experience developing software in a Linux environment.
• Experience with container orchestration implementation such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Experience managing cyber security processes, including vulnerability assessments.
• Experience developing system models, simulations, and complex algorithmic solutions with tools such as MATLAB.
