As a Principal Software Engineer, within the (NGA) Next Generation Avionics group, you will lead the development and advancement of cutting-edge Anthem Display Platform technologies. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative team that is building state-of-the-art avionics solutions. The ideal candidate will be a blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic thought leadership, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our avionics platforms.

You will provide technical expertise as an Anthem Display Platform Principal Technical Lead in the identification and development of new products. You will lead proposals to address future business opportunities, value engineering and program/process changes. You will act as a key Display Platform focal point for driving and implementing technical goals and objectives, as well as collaborate with the Display Platform Product Owner to drive product strategy. You will be recognized by business management as a primary technical authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be play an integral role in shaping software architecture, guiding best practices, and spearheading projects to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions for intuitive display systems that drive value to pilots.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, ensuring the successful execution of software projects
  • Identify areas for process improvements within the software development lifecycle and advocate for best practices in software engineering.
  • Engage in the evaluation and selection of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance software development efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to establish and execute technical strategy for next-generation avionics solutions, aligning with business goals and customer requirements
  • Work with stakeholders to capture and manage software requirements, ensuring they are well-defined, complete, and traceable throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee the integration and testing of software solutions, ensuring that they meet performance and quality standards
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization
YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 12+ years of experience in embedded software design and development
  • Proven experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.

  • Significant relevant experience, particularly operating within an Agile framework
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python and/or Open GL
  • Experience in Display & Graphics or Avionics software
  • Experience with Avionics standards, including A661/A664 standard for aircraft cockpit displays and DO-178C certification compliance
  • Understanding of product strategy and the role of technology in delivering competitive advantage
