Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Hanover, MD to design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance software for national security missions. You will build distributed systems in Python, using Protocol Buffers, gRPC, Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.

You will lead architecture reviews, drive integration across services, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring scalability and reliability of mission-critical applications. A sign-on bonus up to $10,000 is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution.
• 20+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Advanced software development experience with Python.
• Experience building distributed applications using Protocol Buffers and gRPC.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to derive software design, interface, and performance specs.
• Develop, modify, test, integrate, and maintain complex mission-critical software systems.
• Build and deploy containerized apps using Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
• Develop and maintain Helm charts and deployment configurations.
• Create automation scripts to improve development, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and hardware engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.
