Job summary

Akamai Technologies GmbH is seeking a Principal Software Engineer Lead to steer the Kubernetes-based cloud-native platform on our IaaS offering. You will drive architecture, lead agile teams, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and security stakeholders.

You will own the roadmap, design enterprise features, and foster rapid innovation while ensuring reliability and security across the platform. This role rewards leadership with impact and growth within Akamai.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Leadership experience in Cloud Native Platform Engineering, driving toward an enabled ecosystem of capabilities.
• Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Expert knowledge of the Go programming language and comfortable leveraging Python or Bash for scripting needs.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP) and Linux-based operating systems.
• Expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices.

As a Principal Software Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the development of the cloud native platform built on Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies

• Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.

• Have experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Go programming language and be comfortable leveraging Python or Bash for scripting needs.
• Express expertise in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP) and knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
• Have expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $169,300 - $304,700/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
