Job summary

evoke in Austin, TX (Hybrid) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (Golang) to own the backend powering a large, distributed device network and real-time content delivery at scale.

You will be the senior individual contributor on the backend team, designing, building, and maintaining high-scale Go services, leading end-to-end backend initiatives, and partnering with Product to scope and execute work. The role requires 10+ years of experience and BS in CS/CE or equivalent.

We're working with a well-funded, high-growth technology company that operates a large, distributed network of connected devices deployed across thousands of locations nationwide, delivering real-time content and data at scale.

The company has scaled significantly in recent years and recently expanded its data and targeting capabilities through a strategic partnership, putting it at the leading edge of a fast-growing market category.

The role: You'll be the most senior individual contributor on the backend team, owning the systems that power the company's real-time device network and content delivery across a large, distributed fleet nationwide.

You'll:

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale backend services in Go
• Lead backend initiatives end-to-end - from architecture through to production - improving reliability, performance, and resiliency across distributed systems
• Build and evolve the systems that manage content delivery and device coordination across a nationwide network
• Design and evolve API-first services supporting both customer-facing and internal applications
• Partner directly with Product to scope, plan, and execute backend work

What we're looking for:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Go, with real experience operating high-scale backend systems in production
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts and trade-offs
• Experience building API-first, customer-facing services
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

Package:

• Base: $225k - $250k
