Tomo is an AI-powered mortgage bank on a mission to eliminate greed and complexity in home lending by making the home buying process faster, less frustrating, and less expensive. The Principal Software Engineer, Front End will build high performance customer experiences using React, Next.js, Tailwind, Typescript, Storybook, and a mix of client- and server-side rendered pages. Responsibilities include leading scoping and definition for team projects, supporting deployed systems in production as part of an on-call rotation, driving healthy software engineering practices such as code review, automated testing (95% code coverage), and continuous delivery. The role involves working closely with UX designers to promote accessibility best practices, design languages, and brand recognition, and partnering with other engineers to define API contracts and backend, server, and client component structures. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience delivering meaningful software projects, expertise with React and/or Next.js, and a deep understanding of front-end technology stacks. Preferred qualifications include expertise with SEO, site performance tools, AWS, and experience in fintech or home lending technology systems. The role is remote and US-based, with optional office work in Seattle, WA or New York, NY.
