Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded platform software efforts in Colorado. You will build Yocto-based Linux distributions, implement CI/CD pipelines with security automation, and drive BSP development including hypervisors and device drivers.

You’ll ensure secure boot, OTA updates, and collaboration across hardware, software, and product teams, applying Agile practices and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Yocto and embedded Linux platform development.
• Hands-on with Xilinx SoC-based embedded systems (Zynq/Zynq UltraScale+).
• Experience with build systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding BSP, OS layers, boot flows and device security.
• Collaborative cross-functional teamwork in hardware and software.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Engineering degree required; multiple education pathways supported.

As a Principal Software Engineer you will be responsible for;

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded platform software and build infrastructure
• Create and support Yocto-based embedded Linux distributions
• Create CI/CD pipelines integrated with security automation tools
• Develop and maintain BSP software, including hypervisors and device drivers
• Support networking security, secure boot, and OTA update mechanisms

• Yocto-based Embedded Linux

Qualifications;

• Strong experience in Yocto
• Strong experience embedded Linux platform development
• Hands-on experience with Xilinx SoC-based embedded systems (AMD Zynq 7000 series / Zynq UltraScale+, Kria SOM)
• Experience with Yocto, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines
• Solid understanding of BSP and OS layers, boot flows, and device security
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional team with hardware, application, and product management stakeholders
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technically related
• 7+ years of software development experience or, Master's Degree in Engineering or technically related
• 5+ years of software development experience, or PhD with 3 years of software development experience

Salary Range: $125k-$150k

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
