Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in California is seeking a Principal Software Engineer - DevSecOps to join our team on site in San Diego or El Segundo. The selected candidate will work with the latest technology to modernize software production across multiple programs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a STEM field with 5/3/1+ years of related experience, experience with microservices, containers, Docker or Kubernetes, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related engineering experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or PhD with 1 year.
• Experience with microservices including scalability best practices, containers, and container orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Ant, Bamboo, Chef, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
• Experience using Agile methodologies in multi-team programs.
• Experience with software development (Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern OO language).
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance (with background check within past 5 years) and SAP access as required.
• Experience with virtualization and Atlassian suite is a plus.

has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer - DevSecOps to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on site in San Diego, CA or El Segundo, CA. The selected candidate will be working with the latest technology to modernize software production across multiple programs.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Roles And Responsibilities Will Include

• Standup of large scale software factory used by software teams
• Integrate and automate systems to facilitate continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, and continuous deployment pipeline
• Strong communication skills is a must to work with Software IPT, chief engineers, and development team
• The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
• Experience with concepts such as micro services *including scalability best practices), containers, and container orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Experience with a variety of DevOps tools such as Ansible, Ant, Bamboo, Chef, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
• Experience using Agile methodologies in programs with multiple teams
• Experience with software development (Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycle
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Initial PAR is not required to onboard.
• Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance issued by the U.S. Government
• Experience with Virtualization technology
• Strong background in Linux/Unix/Windows Administration
• Experience using the Agile methodology
• Experience with the full Atlassian tool suite (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Crucible, FishEye, Crowd)
• Experience developing builds in Maven, including MAVEN profiles. Ability to automate software builds and releases via Maven & Nexus
• Experience with developing formal builds within the DoD industry
• Experience with VMware infrastructure and automation
• Certification from VMWare and Cisco is desired
• Experience using Azure, Amazon Web Services, including using AWS native services (Cloud Formation, S3, etc.) is a plus
• Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
