LexisNexis Risk Solutions in Alpharetta, GA, seeks a Consulting / Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and optimization of large-scale database systems and backend platforms using Java, JDBC, and ORM frameworks.

You will partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions, build ETL pipelines, and own production issue resolution, while mentoring others and shaping best practices in data engineering.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with a strong DB focus.
• Relational databases (MySQL preferred) and data modeling expertise.
• Advanced SQL development and performance tuning.
• Strong Java, JDBC and ORM (Hibernate/JPA) experience.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues.
• Solid understanding of transaction management, concurrency, and performance.
• Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints with proper data modeling.
• Write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries for OLTP/OLAP workloads.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and functions with transactional integrity.
• Debug production issues: slow queries, deadlocks, high CPU/memory/I/O usage.
• Implement Java-based data access layers using JDBC and ORM (Hibernate/JPA).
• Build and support ETL pipelines for large datasets.
• Perform data analysis, validation, and reporting to meet business needs.
• Create Bash/shell scripts to automate DB ops (backups, cron jobs, processing).
