LexisNexis Risk Solutions in Alpharetta, GA seeks a Consulting / Principal Software Engineer to lead design, optimization, and management of large-scale database systems and backend platforms. You will drive database architecture, performance tuning, and Java-based development with cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable data solutions.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering with strong MySQL, SQL, and ORM expertise, plus hands-on Unix/Linux scripting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with a database focus.
• Expertise in relational databases (MySQL) and data modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL development and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with Java, JDBC, and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex production issues.
• Understanding of transaction management, concurrency, and system performance.
• Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints for OLTP and OLAP.
• Write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries with joins, subqueries, CTEs, and window functions.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and functions with ownership of transactions.
• Debug and resolve production issues including slow queries, deadlocks, and high resource usage.
• Implement Java-based data access layers using JDBC and ORM frameworks for scalable DB interaction.
• Build and support ETL pipelines for large datasets.
• Perform data analysis, validation, and reporting to support business needs.
• Create Bash scripts to automate DB operations and scheduling (cron).
