You will be pushing the boundaries of data freshness and query performance while supporting thousands of tables at petabyte scale.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Envisioning, architecting, building, and owning a highly scalable data platform that will help power Nextdoor's future development
• Participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle: analysis, technical design, planning, development, testing/CI/CD, release, and post-production/escalation support
• Building partnerships with key stakeholders, evangelizing platform usage, and developing a roadmap for future development
• Participating in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team-building exercises
• Building relationships with team members and contributing to Nextdoor's company culture

What You'll Bring To The Team

• 7-10 years of demonstrated experience working on data infrastructure at petabyte scale
• Deep understanding of data infrastructure, governance, compliance, and enterprise data usage
• Knowledge of SQL, Spark/pySpark, and other data processing tools
• Fundamentals of computer science: data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and optimization
• Software engineering fundamentals: version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub) and workflows, and ability to write production-ready code
• Knowledge of data science and machine learning tools and frameworks
• Familiarity with experimentation methodologies, such as A/B testing, multivariate testing, and statistical analysis
• Experience deploying scalable software
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to conduct meetings, make professional presentations, and explain complex concepts to non-technical users

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor combine to create a comprehensive rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $230,000 to $290,000 annually, potentially higher based on proficiency and experience. Compensation may vary by location.

We also anticipate awarding a meaningful equity grant, with quarterly vesting, beginning within the first 3 months of employment.

Overall, total compensation depends on skills, experience, and qualifications. Nextdoor covers 100% of your personal monthly premiums for health, dental, and vision, and provides a OneMedical membership for concierge care.
