Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, Florida or Oklahoma City, OK. You will design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical software, lead CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate in an Agile Scrum environment.

You must have a STEM degree with several years of relevant experience and an active US Secret clearance (Top Secret possible). This role includes travel up to 10% and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience, or STEM Master’s with 3 years, or STEM PhD with 1 year.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins) and practices.
  • Proficiency in C# and/or Java and Object-Oriented Software Design.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Maintain and improve the software CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, bug free delivery of critical business software to production.
  • Set up and deploy Development, Test, and Build environments.
  • Create and update Windows installers.
  • Install, test, and verify software products.
  • Provide support for the software build and installation.
  • Work within a Cross-Functional scrum to develop high-priority mission planning features.
  • Understand third-party software/hardware peripherals to support implementation of software interfaces and support integration.
  • Develop software test products tying software requirements to tests, plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Define and develop test approaches for new software and system capabilities.
  • Compile data and define changes required in testing procedures.
  • Interface on a technical level with the customer.
  • Support the Agile Framework as a Scrum Master, when required.

Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in Melbourne, Florida or Oklahoma City, OK.

Essential Functions
  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions while ensuring software standards are met.
  • Maintain and improve the software CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, bug free delivery of critical business software to production.
  • Set up and deploy Development, Test, and Build environments.
  • Create and update Windows installers.
  • Install, test, and verify software products.
  • Provide support for the software build and installation.
  • Work within a Cross-Functional scrum to develop high-priority mission planning features.
  • Understand third-party software and hardware peripherals to support implementation of software interfaces and support integration.
  • Develop software test products such as Verification Cross Reference Matrices to tie software requirements to software tests, Software Test Plans, Software Test Procedures, and Software Test Reports.
  • Define and develop test approaches for new software and system capabilities.
  • Compile data and define changes required in testing procedures or new testing requirements.
  • Interface on a technical level with the customer.
  • Support the Agile Framework as a Scrum Master, when required.
Principal Software Engineer Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and at least 5 years’ relevant experience; or STEM Master’s degree with 3 years’ relevant experience; or a STEM PHD with 1 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with/using Agile Methodology and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) Tools (Bamboo, Jenkins) and Practices.
  • Proficiency in C# and/or Java and Object-Oriented Software Design paradigms.
  • Experience with one or more of the following scripts: yaml, Python, PowerShell, Batch, Typescript.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8570/8140 IAT Level II or higher (ex. Security+ w/CE).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and leading sprint planning or retrospectives.
  • Familiarity with development tooling such as Git, CMake, Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Code.
  • Proficiency in .NET Framework.
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Microsoft Windows-based Applications.
  • Experience with Microservice development and service communication protocols such as gRPC and/or REST.
  • Experience with/using Relational Databases, SQL.
Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $93,300.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such that the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions are taken into account.

Benefits

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
