Job summary

Concord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to bridge business goals and scalable software solutions. You will own full-stack features, spanning backend, data systems, and UI, with a focus on AI-assisted development practices and architecture leadership.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, prototype quickly, and design robust systems while upholding secure-by-design principles and CI/CD practices. This role offers autonomy and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience with architecture ownership and leadership.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, and DevSecOps (secure-by-design, observability, monitoring/alerting).

• Experience communicating technical strategy to executives and stakeholders.

About the Role

Join a team building the analytical and optimization software that powers one of North America's largest renewable energy operations. Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to serve as the bridge between business objectives and software solutions.

This role is for someone who combines deep technical expertise with product thinking, business acumen, and architecture leadership, working with a high degree of autonomy to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable, production-ready systems. The role spans full-stack ownership (backend, data systems, UI) and includes active use of AI-assisted development practices as part of the org's broader investment in AI-enabled engineering.

What You'll Be Doing

• Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable, robust technical architectures, anticipating edge cases and operational concerns.
• Make pragmatic technology decisions and design systems for long-term maintainability.
• Work directly with business stakeholders to rapidly prototype and validate concepts, accelerating feedback cycles.
• Own features end-to-end across backend services, data systems, and user interfaces.
• Use agentic AI tools throughout the development lifecycle, including designing quality controls for coding agents, specification-driven workflows, and deterministic validation checks.
• Evaluate AI tools and practices critically rather than adopting them by default.
• Build secure-by-design software with CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and alerting for operational readiness.
• Serve as a technical lead: define architecture, guide software design, mentor less experienced engineers, and communicate with executives and business stakeholders.

Experience and Skills

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated ownership of system architecture and technical leadership (not years alone — must show scope of ownership, not just tenure).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Cloud platform experience, including Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and practices.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices (secure-by-design, observability, monitoring/alerting).
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading project teams (helpful but not required).
• Experience communicating technical strategy to executive/business stakeholders.

Additional Information

• Location: St. Paul, MN or Juno Beach, FL are preferred, but open to other locations in the US. Occasional visits to the office in MN or FL might be required.
• Employment Type/Duration: 12-month contract. Possibility of extensions.
• Compensation: $70/hr - $75/hr W2 or $75 - $85/hr C2C. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and overall qualifications.
• Requirements: Must be authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship, now or in the future.
