Job summary

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking Principal Software Engineers to join a fast-paced team supporting Department of War and Intelligence Community programs. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle—from design and development to deployment and implementation—across a variety of languages and environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or closely related.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• OO programming with modern languages.
• Experience with Agile software development (Scrum) and Jira.
• Cloud computing with IaaS/PaaS/SaaS.
• Micro-services and container tech (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Languages: Python, MATLAB, IDL, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, C++.
• Frameworks: Angular, Spring Boot, Vue, QT, React.
• Database modeling: OpenSearch Dashboards.
• Algorithm development, database design, UI/UX.
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI.
• TDD (JUnit).
• Web/SOA, visualization, GIS tech.
• Experience across all SDLC phases in an Agile setting.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

NextGen Federal Systems (NextGen) is currently seeking to fill multiple Principal Software Engineer positions with staff who have experience supporting Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) programs. Selected candidates will participate in the entire software development lifecycle including design, development, deployment and implementation of software products throughout all phases. The candidates will be part of a development team operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The selected candidates will develop software in a variety of languages and environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or closely related
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required
• Object-Oriented (OO) Programming skills with modern development languages
• Agile software development practices and tools (e.g., Scrum, Jira)
• Modern cloud-computing software and tools including distributed computing platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
• Micro-services, container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Modern data architectures and tools: Python, MATLAB, IDL, Java, JavaScript / Typescript, NodeJS, C++
• Frameworks: Angular, Spring Boot, Vue, QT, React
• Database modeling: OpenSearch Dashboards
• Algorithm development, database design, UI/UX
• Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Test-Driven Development Methodologies (JUnit)
• Web and SOA technologies, visualization technologies, image processing, database and/or geospatial (GIS) technologies
• Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle including agile development processes, tools, and methodologies
